Two-day ‘graVITas’ from October 12

Over 125 events will be held as part of VIT’s annual festival

Vellore Institute of Technology’s (VIT) annual techno- management fest ‘graVITas’ 18 will be held from October 12 to 14. Over 125 events will be held as part of the fest.

According to a press release, the theme for the fest is ‘Technologies for Non-Technologists’.

It intends to offer solutions to the challenges faced by the nation using emerging technologies for farming-energy and water conservation. Students from over 200 institutions across the country will be taking part in the fest.

There are international participants from Europe, Ethiopia, Denmark and Malaysia.

As part of the 10th edition of ‘graVITas’, an international conference on innovative and emerging technologies for farming-energy and environment-water will be held.

Lectures by experts from the University of Tokyo, Purdue University-Indianapolis, Indiana University, Hewlett Packard, Bengaluru, ICAR and Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore, will be held as part of the conference.

Research and races

More than 180 abstracts were received for the conference. Of this, 94 papers were selected for the final presentation.

Some of the events include Aero Dominator 5.0, an all-electric class aero design competition, Indian drone racing league and RC Baja, an intercollegiate design competition organised by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers-VIT in which teams of students from universities would build small off-road cars, the release said.
