Television actor Nilani on Thursday attempted suicide at her house in K.K. Nagar by consuming poison. She was rushed to a hospital.
Last Sunday, she filed a complaint with the Mylapore police, alleging that Gandhi Lalitkumar, an assistant film director, was harassing her to marry him.
Lalitkumar committed suicide after she rejected his proposal for marriage. The next day, she preferred a complaint with the Police Commissioner’s office, blaming the media for character assassination. The trolling on social media networks and media coverage led her into depression. The actor came to light following her comments against the Thoothukudi police firing incident. She was arrested by the Vadapalani police.
