Traffic signal at MKN junction sought

With too many connecting roads, it is one of the most chaotic intersections in the region

Traffic movement at MKN Road junction is chaotic, due to the lack of traffic signals. This junction is an important connecting point for various localities, including Thillai Ganga Nagar, Adambakkam, GST road, Alandur and St Thomas Mount. It also provides access to St Thomas Mount Metro station and Alandur Metro station.

Traffic police personnel are deployed at this intersection only during rush hour.

Some motorists are of the opinion that installing a traffic signal would not be a feasible solution as the intersection is narrow and always congested. There are too many connecting road and having a traffic signal will only add to the congestion, says a regular commuter on the section.

There has been minor accidents at this junction, and it is felt that fixing a traffic signal may not be a solution to the traffic congestion there, but will certainly check accidents.
