Traffic constable dies in accident, youth held

The Poonamalee police on Wednesday arrested a youth for causing the death of a traffic police constable.

The police identified the deceased as S. Paul Raj, a Grade I constable with the Ambattur police. On Monday night, Lokesh, 19, who was riding his bike, rammed Paul Raj’s two-wheeler near Kannikapuram. Paul Raj was seriously injured on his head and admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital but he died on Wednesday.

The police have registered a case against Lokesh for rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence.
