T.N. keen on skilling people, says Minister

Over 2.5 lakh job seekers have been placed in various firms through job and career fairs organised by the State government in the last three years. “We are in talks with various firms to provide job opportunities and hire more resources from Tamil Nadu,” Nilofer Kafeel, Minister for Labour and Employment, said at Industry Academia Forum 2018 that was organised by Smart Training Resources in association with Discovery Education Media Private Limited.

Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture Ma Foi K. Pandiarajan said that high-end training centres are being set up to address the industry requirements. He said that recently the government had a meeting to bring together job providers and colleges on one platform. Mr. Pandia Rajan said that the State is conducting various programmes to achieve its objective of skills training and employability that was mentioned in the Vision 2023 document.

The then Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, in her Vision 2023 statement said that under its education and skills mission, the State aims at establishing a robust human resources pipeline by skilling and training 20 million people with focus on employability.

Sujith Kumar – Business Leader - HR, Infosys spoke on how institutions can look at strengthening their alumni network through which a lot of interface can happen. He also said that three critical stakeholders – schools, colleges and industries don’t talk to each other. “We should bring all these stakeholders together,” he said.
