The Ayanavaram Police have arrested three persons including two policemen for possessing more than one kilogram of ganja on Saturday.

A police official of Ayanavaram station said a tip off was received about ganja being distributed in their police limits and during a routine patrol check near the Saibaba temple at Thikkakulam, the police team found a person roaming in a suspicious manner with a parcel.

On enquiry, the police team found the accused M. Dilipkumar of Mogappair, in possession of 1.2 kg of ganja. On interogation, the police found that the ganja was given to the accused by Sakthivel of the Government Railway Police (GRP). He told the police that the contraband was taken from a parcel seized by the GRP from an accused travelling in the Howrah Express. The accused Sakthivel had given the parcel to Dilipkumar for selling it on the advice of his roommate Chellakumar working in the Cyber Crime Wing.

All the three accused were later produced before a judicial magistrate and sent to prison.
