How well do you know your city? Can you identify all the statues on the beach? Or, do you know how various areas got their names?

On Sunday morning, 30 teams of Chennaites got together to test their knowledge of the city thanks to the ‘City City Hunt Hunt’ organised by Bhumi and AID India.

“The citywide treasure hunt started at Marina Beach, with a beach cleanup and a selfie with a statue, and ended at Grand Mall in Velachery.

The participants were given a number of tasks, including tyre running (where the participants rolled a bicycle tyre with a stick from Point A to Point B). We made sure that the tasks related to the city in some way,” Selva Kumar from AID India said.

There were a number of map-based clues and tasks that the participants had to complete. “We knew it would be a tough treasure hunt, and even our first task proved more difficult than we expected,” said Nivedhitha, a participant.

The event was organised to raise awareness of children’s education, and help the organisations attract volunteers, Mr. Selva Kumar said.

The teams even planted saplings at a school near the Chennai Central station. “It is difficult for organisations like Bhumi and AID India to create awareness and raise funds for its programmes, so we are always finding new and unique events to raise awareness,” Ben from Bhumi said.
