An inquiry is on to unravel the mystery behind the the suicide of a call-taxi driver at Maraimalai Nagar railway station five days ago. A video statement of the driver blaming traffic police personnel for his death spurred the police to launch the probe.

The body of Rajesh, 25, from Kammavarpalayam near Kancheepuram was found on the railway tracks last week, with the head severed. The Government Railway Police registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances.

In the video clip, Rajesh alleged that he was abused by traffic police personnel twice - in Anna Nagar and again in Tiruvottiyur - in front of passengers.

M.Vijayakumari, Joint Commissioner of Police, West, confirmed that an inquiry was on. Meanwhile, Rajesh’s family has demanded action against the police personnel who abused him.
