At a time when pressure is mounting on Union Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar to quit following allegations of sexual harassment, the BJP’s State unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan has said that whoever sexually harasses women should be condemned.

Speaking to press persons on Thursday, she said that women should get justice.

“I strongly emphasise that whoever commits sexual harassment....as long as the affected party is a woman...whoever is accused of the crime....it does not matter who it is, women should get justice,” she told reporters at the Chennai airport.

Ms. Soundararajan also tweeted in support of the ‘Me Too’ movement.

The BJP leader was critical of the Tamil film community’s silence over the harassment allegations made by singer Chinmayi Sripaada against poet and lyricist R. Vairamuthu.
