Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.S. Alagiri demanded that the Tamil Nadu government take immediate measures to find the whereabouts of fishermen from Kanniyakumari district who have gone missing.

In a statement, Mr. Alagiri said they had gone fishing from October 1 to 17 but have gone incommunicado. “Following the cyclone warning, more than 300 boats have docked in various ports in Maharashtra, Lakshadweep and other places. But none of the State governments have taken any interest in this issue and the Central government too is uninterested”, he said.

Mr. Alagiri said Tamil Nadu government should immediately start searching for the missing fishermen and take action to ensure their safety.
