Students take ill after eating hostel food

October 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - CHENNAI:

On Monday, around 27 hostel students from the Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women were rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Royapettah Government Hospital, as they complained of stomach ache and vomiting, suspected to be due to food poisoning. 18 were admitted to the Royapettah GH, and the rest to the other hospital.

They came in the evening with symptoms of food poisoning, including loose motion. While 14 were treated as outpatients at the Royapettah GH, four have been admitted there and are in a stable condition. The students told doctors that a meal with coconut they had on Sunday might have caused their illness. The person, who made the food, is believed to have been admitted at Royapettah GH.
