A golden retriever, stolen from a businessman’s house in T. Nagar four days ago, was found abandoned near the house and reunited with the family on Tuesday.
Sharath Ravi, a bank employee, found his dog Jackie missing and CCTV footage showed a young woman, who came in a call taxi, feeding the dog. Later, she and the driver took the dog away in the taxi.
When the family approached the Pondy Bazaar police, seeking to trace the dog, they were of little help.
“The police said the CCTV devices were not working. There was no progress in the investigation. But our family did not give up and searched everywhere with the help of friends. We secured CCTV footage sourced from the neighbourhood and circulated it on social media networks, along with a photo of the dog,” said Ravi, father of Mr. Sharath.
“However, early on Tuesday, Jackie was found abandoned on a street near our house. Our pet was spotted by a transperson living nearby. Since my son had enquired about the dog the previous night, she was aware of this, and brought our pet home,” Mr. Ravi said.
