SRM launches centre for performing arts

Will offer degrees in music, dance and fashion designing

The SRM University has launched a Centre for Performing and Fine Arts on its Kattankulathur campus.

The centre will offer degrees in music, dance and fashion designing. It will also offer certificate courses in performing arts for current students. Shobana Vignesh will head the centre.

The advisory board members include musicians L. Subramaniam, O.S. Arun and Meeta Pandit, dancers Priyadarsini Govind and Radhika Shurajit, and fine arts expert Deccan Moorthy.

Career workshops

There will be regular contact classes with renowned visiting artists and experts in the form of master classes and career workshops.

Supportive courses such as event management and sound engineering will also be offered, according to a release.
