‘Spread Saint Ramanuja’s message on breaking social barriers

Ranga Ramanuja Jeeyar of Alwarthirunagari on Sunday said that everyone should spread the message of Saint Ramanuja, who worked towards breaking social barriers.

Addressing the gathering at an event organised by Lifco Publishers to present the Sri Ramanuja Sevasri Awards, he said that it was Sri Ramanuja who put in place temple practices.

The awards were presented to well-known scribe A.M. Rajagopalan, renowned scholar K.B. Devarajan, and publisher of Vainavakural T.V. Rangarajan.

He also launched free distribution of the books Periya Jeeyar Perumaiyum , Upadesha Rathnamalai and a poster to commemorate the 750th birth anniversary of Swami Desikan.

Hyderabad High Court judge V. Ramasubramanian and judges of the Madras High Court N. Kirubhakaran, G.R. Swaminathan and M. Dhandapani were guests of honour at the event.

Minister for Tamil Development K. Pandiarajan said that Tamil had flourished in the works of the Alwars.

Lifco managing-director Radha Vijayasarathy said in its 90th year, the publishing house had brought out several books on Saint Ramanuja. Lifco chairman T.N.C. Vijayasarathy was present.
