Minister inaugurates the counters

Transport Minister M.R. Vijayabhaskar on Thursday inaugurated special ticket booking counters at the Koyambedu bus terminus.

He said 30 ticket counters had been opened at four bus termini — 26 counters at CMBT and Koyambedu, two at Tambaram Sanatorium, one in Poonamallee and one in Madhavaram.

Like last year, the Transport Department on Thursday started special buses from the city to various parts of the State.

Nearly 11,000 buses, including special buses, will be operated from the city for three days, from October 24 to 26. A transport official said 80,000 passengers had travelled from five venues on Thursday.

The Department will be operating 3,267 buses on October 25, and 4,000 buses on October 26.
