Restoration of major bus routes begins in Chennai

May 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - CHENNAI:

After a long wait, the Chennai Corporation has commenced work on relaying 194 bus routes.

Milling – scraping the old layer of the road – started on R.K. Mutt Road, Peters Road and Sardar Patel Road.

Traffic police will implement diversions in some of the stretches for the work shortly. “The roads will be ready before the Northeast monsoon,” said an official.

Motorists and residents who face hardships are requested to call 1913 to lodge their grievances.

The Chennai Corporation had decided to prioritise the makeover of some bus routes, likely to be frequented by delegates of the Global Investors’ Meet.
