Policemen not only attend to complaints pertaining to law and order or crime, but also an lend a ear to consumer issues. One such incident happened at the North Beach police station on Saturday.

Abdul Jaffer, a resident of Mannady, sent his brother Syed to purchase a packet of bread on Friday. “He got it from a bakery in the locality. On Saturday morning, we found a burnt lizard when we started toasting it. Immediately we took it to the bakery,” said Jaffer.

The bakery owner allegedly called the officials of the bread company. “Since they did not turn up, I lodged a complaint with the police station. Subsequently, some representatives of the bread company came to the police station and we had a lengthy discussion. They denied it was a lizard,” he claimed.

On Monday, he will be giving the bread to King Institute for testing. “After this we will be filing a case in the consumer court,” he added.
