DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Friday described as a “retrograde move” the decision of the BJP-led NDA to relax norms for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 15 sectors, including defence, banking, construction, single brand retail, broadcasting and civil aviation.
‘Supporting what it
objected to earlier’
Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allegation that the Congress was giving away the nation to foreigners when the Congress-led UPA allowed FDI in some sectors, Mr. Karunanidhi said the BJP’s objection defeated the efforts to allow the FDI in the insurance sector.
“Now the BJP government has supported what it had objected to when it was in the opposition. It is a wrong move,” he said.
