‘Recognise Bodhi Dharma’

Born in Kancheepuram, he took Buddhism to China

Congress MP from Arni constituency, Dr. M.K. Vishnu Prasad, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to recognise the contributions of Bodhi Dharma, who was born in Kancheepuram and took the principles of Buddhism to China. His letter comes in the backdrop of the summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

He requested Mr. Modi to establish a Bodhi Dharma research institute, an international cultural and medical university, in any part of India, and name the bifurcated district of Kancheepuram in the name of Bodhi Dharma. Dr. Prasad also requested the Prime Minister to unveil a statue of Bodhi Dharma.
