The ‘Nethra Seva’ block of the Rajan Eye Care Hospital was inaugurated on Thursday morning.

The new wing — a joint initiative of the Chennai Vision Charitable Trust, the Rotary Rajan Eye Bank and the Rotary Club of Madras, T. Nagar — will aim to provide free eye care for the poor.

Speaking about the ‘Nethra Seva’ block, Mohan Rajan, chairman and medical director of the Rajan Eye Care Hospital said the facility would function through the week. “People who need eye care but cannot afford it can just walk in and we will ensure that they are looked after,” he explained.

The block is located near the Rajan Eye Care Hospital premises in T. Nagar.
