President’s two-day visit to T.N. from today

Will attend events in Vellore, Chennai

President Ram Nath Kovind will be in Tamil Nadu on May 4 and 5 and will be attending events in Vellore and Chennai.

According to the police, Mr. Kovind will be arriving at the Chennai airport on the morning of May 4 and flying to Vellore by an IAF MI 17 helicopter and landing at Sripuram golden temple helipad in Vellore. From there, he will travel by road to the Christian Medical College.

He will be inaugurating the Centenary celebrations of the college. Following this, he will be inaugurating a kidney transplant and cardiac unit at Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre on Thirumalaikodi Road in Vellore.

In the evening, he would make a 40-minute visit to the Sri Lakshmi Narayani golden temple.

Subsequently, he would leave for Chennai by helicopter from temple helipad. Upon reaching Raj Bhavan, he would meet guests till 8 p.m.

On May 5, he would leave Raj Bhavan by road to attend the post centenary diamond jubilee convocation at University of Madras. He would later attend the convocation at Guru Nanak College and inaugurate the Guru Amar Das block and Shaheed Baba Deep Singh auditorium. He will leave Chennai in the afternoon.

Senior police officers said tight security and traffic arrangements will be in place during the President’s visit.
