DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi might use the aerial route to avoid protests in Tamil Nadu, but would be forced to hit the road during the elections.
“The Prime Minister should not forget that he has to use the roads for the election campaign. A bird may fly sky high. But it has to land on the ground when it needs food,” he said while addressing people at Vallampadugai in Cuddalore district.
Mr. Stalin, who wore a black shirt to express his protest against the Centre’s failure to constitute the CMB, said if the Prime Minister wanted to be fair to the people of Tamil Nadu, he should have travelled by road to attend the Defence Expo and faced the Opposition’s black flag protest.
“But he was afraid of travelling in a car and created a helipad even in the exhibition area.
‘Since he is not interested in knowing what is happening in Tamil Nadu, I can only compare him to the cat which closed its eyes and came to the conclusion that the world is dark,” Mr. Stalin said.
Accusing the Centre of turning Tamil Nadu into a desert by refusing to constitute the Cauvery Management Board, Mr. Stalin said the State government was conniving with the government at the Centre.
If the Opposition was organising a black flag protest, the Prime Minister should have the courage to face it.
Nehru, Indira faced it
“The DMK organised similar protests when Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi visited Tamil Nadu. They faced our protests,” he said and added that the protests would continue till the CMB was formed.
