The city police on Monday arrested a few people who allegedly kidnapped the wife of ‘Power Star’ Srinivasan, based on his complaint, and rescued her from a place in Ooty, a senior officer said.
Mr. Srinivasan complained to police that he was invited to meet a producer in Coimbatore on the pretext of discussing a film. He and his wife were kept confined in a hotel room.
However, he managed to come to Chennai to meet his children. Mr. Srinivasan requested the police to rescue his wife. A special team rescued Ms. Julie. Mr. Srinivasan, popularly known as ‘Power Star’ in film circles, last acted in the Tamil comedy, Kanna Laddoo Thinna Aasaiya . He claims to be a medical practitioner-turned- financier.
The Central Crime Branch arrested him in 2013 on charges of cheating a loan applicant from Andhra Pradesh by taking ₹50 lakh commission to secure him a bank loan of ₹20 crore.
