Police nab robber;recover gold, cash

Accused is wanted in many theft cases

The Kolathur police on Monday arrested a history-sheeter for his alleged involvement in a few robberies.

P. Arumugam alias Aru, 24, of Kakkanji Nagar, ICF, was nabbed after S. Mohanraj, 55, a water can supplier, lodged a complaint that he was robbed by an unidentified person on Poompuhar Main Road on Sunday night.

The police arrested Arumugam on suspicion as he had several theft and robbery cases against him. He was also detained under the Goondas Act twice.

The police recovered 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery, cash and other valuables from him.
