The Government Railway Police investigating the murder of the unidentified man, are looking for probable links with a similar case detected in New Delhi on the same day.

GRP sources said the headless body of a young woman was found packed in a sack and dumped in a park near Sarai Rohilla railway station in North Delhi on Saturday morning. Enquiries were on to check whether the body was transported by train.

“We are in touch with the New Delhi police. The cuts in both the bodies seem to have been made with a sharp weapon. Special teams will peruse the video footage from surveillance camerasat all major stations between New Delhi and Chennai Central,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (Railways) V. Ponram said.

But for a cut injury on the right shoulder, there was no other injury on the headless body that was found in the box. “Since the box is just about 27-inch long and 12-inch in height and width, there could not have been much suspicion when it was placed under a berth in the unreserved compartment. ,” he said. Information on the middle-aged male body was sent to all State police headquarters in the country.
