Philately scholarships given to students

A total of 40 students across the State on Friday bagged scholarship provided by the Department of Posts to promote stamps as a hobby among children.

M. Sampath, Chief Post Master General, Tamil Nadu Circle, distributed the scholarships and certificates to the students at a function held in the city on Friday.

The scholarship amount of ₹6,000 was deposited in the students’ post office savings bank account.

Nearly 32,818 students of class VI to IX, who have a philately deposit account or are a member of philately club in their school, participated in a quiz and project. Of the 171 students who were chosen to submit the projects, the best 40 were selected for scholarship.

Ambesh Upmanyu, Post Master General, Central Region, Tiruchi, R. Anand, Post Master General, Chennai City Region, and J.T. Venkateswarlu, Post Master General, Mails and Business Development participated.
