An ‘unruly passenger’ on a Spicejet flight from Chennai to Colombo early on Wednesday, had to be de-boarded as he reportedly created problems inside the aircraft, sources said.

The flight, which was to depart at 12.10 a.m. left only by 12.45 a.m., sources added.

When boarding for the flight began, the passenger, Gunasena, who had been seated, suddenly became violent and began abusing passengers. The crew had to de-board him from the aircraft, sources said. The flight then left with the other passengers after a half-hour delay.

In a statement, Spicejet said: “On  November 6, one of the passengers of SpiceJet flight SG01 operating between Chennai and Colombo was found displaying abnormal behaviour before the boarding. He did not follow the safety instructions at the ladder point and was later de-boarded.”
