The police seized a panchaloha Nandi idol from a scrap shop in Tiruttani on Saturday evening.

The shopowner, Noorma, has been arrested.

The police received information about a panchaloha idol hidden in a scrap shop on Chittoor Road.

The police searched the shop and found the one-foot-tall panchaloha idol, which weighed nearly 35 kg.

During investigation he told the police that four persons tried to sell it to him.

“He claims that despite his repeated requests, the four sold the idol to him and left the place. We have arrested Noorma and are on the look out for the four who sold the idol to him,” police sources said.
