Old manja hurt doctor, say police

M. Saravanan, a 37-year-old neurosurgeon at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, was injured after a manja (thread coated with glass powder for flying kites) string cut him on the neck while he was riding a motorcycle near the Perambur Loco Bridge on Thursday. He admitted himself at the Perambur Railway Hospital.

However, the ICF police said that it was an old manja string and its use has been banned in the city.
