Now, Metro Rail begins underground trial

Inspection wagon runs between Thirumangalam Ramp and Anna Nagar Tower

The first ever underground trial of Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) started from Thirumangalam Ramp to Anna Nagar Tower Metro Rail station on Saturday.

According to CMRL officials, an OHE inspection wagon started running from Thirumangalam Ramp from 11 a.m. up to 1 p.m. “The inspection was to check various aspects including track work, signalling and other electrical and civil works along this two-km stretch. This will go on for a few more months and only after the stretch is electrified will we have trials with trains,” an official said.

The officials also inspected the station work and platform screen door works along this corridor.
