The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the central crime branch police here not to take any coercive action against film director A.R. Murugadoss pursuant to registration of a first information report (FIR) for having included scenes of people burning government freebies in his Vijay starrer Sarkar .
Justice N. Anand Venkatesh issued the direction after Additional Public Prosecutor M. Mohamed Riyaz urged the court to adjourn the hearing on the FIR quash petition to Friday to enable the appearance of State Public Prosecutor A. Natarajan. He accepted the request but ordered the police to keep their hands off the issue till then.
In his petition, the director claimed that registration of a criminal case on the basis of a complaint lodged by an advocate clerk was completely erroneous since his movie had been duly certified by the Central Board of Film Certification and he too had voluntarily deleted certain scenes from the movie after its release.
