Union Finance Minister also pays tributes to Sardar Vallabhai Patel on the occasion of his birth anniversary

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman led the BJP’s Gandhi Sankalp Yatra to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Chennai on Thursday. The short walk was also held to remember Sardar Vallabhai Patel on his birth anniversary. The walk was to conclude the Yatra organised by the BJP this month across the State.

Ms. Sitharaman led the padayatra from the Aminjakarai market to T.P. Chatram, walking through a few waterlogged places. At 4th Street, Shenoy Nagar, Ms. Sitharaman unfurled a BJP flag, which seemed to have been strung upside down. As she proceeded with the walk, a few BJP cadre immediately brought the flag down, set it right and hoisted it again.

The Finance Minister paid floral tributes to a photo of Sardar Patel on Gajapathi Street.

Earlier Ms. Sitharaman tweeted: “Participating in the #Gandhi Sankalp Yatra #Gandhi150 in Chennai today. Also remembering #SardarPatel on his birthday. In the services they both rendered for India, each did with striking simplicity”.

Actor Gautami and senior leaders of the State BJP unit took part in the event.
