NIB seizes heroin in Mannadi

Sleuths of the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) seized 7 g of heroin worth ₹70,000 from a man in Mannadi on Saturday.

The NIB sleuths got a tip-off about a youngster selling narcotic substances from a house in Mannadi Street. They raided the house and seized the contraband.

Asik Ali, 23, originally from Sivaganga district, was selling the drugs, an official said.

“This is the first case against him. Preliminary inquiry revealed that he procured the drug from Goa. He sells it to his regular customers who contact him over the phone,” said an official.

The police booked him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The NIB also seized close to eight kilograms of ganja found abandoned at the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Central railway station.
