Reiterating that the Mullaperiyar reservoir is strong enough to store water up to the permitted level of 142 feet, the chairman of the Supreme Court-appointed three-member panel, Gulshan Raj, expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the dam here on Saturday.
In a brief conversation with reporters, he said that the leakage was well within limits. The committee inspected all the structures in the dam.
The present storage is 134.25 feet.
The chairman said a number of issues pertaining to dam safety could be sorted out by involving both the Kerala and Tamil Nadu governments.
