More rains for city this week

The mild showers that have been soaking the city this week may continue over the next few days.

According to the meteorological department, a low pressure trough formed around the Comorin area to the west central bay across the southwest bay, is expected to bring in further rains.

In the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, Nungambakkam received 2.3 cm of rainfall and Meenambakkam recorded about 1 cm. The maximum temperature on Sunday was 31.3 degree Celsius, a little below average for the season.

In their forecast for Monday, meteorological department officials have predicted rains or thunder showers over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. There could also be isolated heavy rains over coastal regions.
