Monkey at airport again

For the second time, a baby monkey entered the Chennai airport on Wednesday, airport sources said.

Around noon, the monkey entered the departure hall of the international terminal and went into hiding.

According to officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI), the State Forest department staff was immediately called to catch the monkey, but since it hid itself somewhere in the terminal, they were not able to find it.

“It may come out tomorrow and we should be able to catch it then,” an official said adding that the monkey did not cause any problem inside the terminal.

In January this year, two monkeys entered the departure hall of the domestic terminal and were later trapped by the State forest department.

A few days back, a dog entered the airside of the terminal, but no flight movement was affected, officials said.

“It must have entered through one of the storm water drains. We will take efforts to prevent animals from entering the airport,” he added.
