July 22, 2012 01:58 am | Updated 01:58 am IST - CHENNAI:

An advanced radiotherapy machine named the Varian True Beam was a valuable improvement to the cancer care centre launched by the MIOT hospitals in the city. The True Beam, with sub-millimetre accuracy, can perform procedures in a shorter period of time as compared to other machines. It uses radiation to treat multiple tumour sites, without affecting the surrounding normal tissue. P.V.A. Mohandas, managing director of the MIOT hospitals, said, “With the help of this machine, we can treat any type of cancer from head to foot. ”
