Maximum temperature soars

The maximum temperature on Wednesday soared to 40.6 degree Celsius at Meenambakkam, the highest so far this summer, according to the Meteorological Department.

The maximum temperature at Nungambakkam was 39.6 degree Celsius, higher than the day temperature of Tuesday.

The north westerly wind kept the temperature high even though sea breeze set in around 12.30 p.m. in Nungambakkam and 1.50 p.m. in Meenambakkam, officials of the department said.

Thundercloud

The department forecasts that thundercloud may develop towards evening or night on Thursday and the maximum temperature would be around 40 degree Celsius.
