DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Sunday alleged that many welfare boards created during the DMK rule were not functioning properly and it was explained by the pathetic condition of the Transgender Welfare Board.
Citing a report in The Hindu , ‘Transgender Welfare Board in a limbo,” he said even though the tenure of the committee members of the board ended in 2011, new members were not appointed so far.
“The total allocation for the board was Rs 1 crore and in 2012-13 the government had spent only Rs 55.44 lakh of the allocation,” he said.
