A 46-year-old man was arrested under the POCSO Act in Chromepet for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
The minor and Pandian, a car driver, lived in the same locality. She recently complained of pain and when her parents took her to the doctor, she was found to be sexually assaulted.
The girl informed that Pandian had abused her.
Neighbours nabbed him and handed him over to the Shankar Nagar police.
He was later handed over to the Tambaram all-women police and remanded in judicial custody.
