A 22-year-old man smothered his 50-year-old mother to death before taking his own life at their house in Teynampet on Saturday.
The bodies of Sundaravalli and Vigneshwaran were found by a friend who came to their house in the evening. The Teynampet police have registered a case and are investigating.
The police said the youngster sold tea in IT companies, while his father Natesan worked as a watchman. Sundaravalli had been suffering from depression. The police suspect Vigneshwaran smothered his mother to death using a pillow.
