The police have arrested a 36-year-old-man for allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl in New Washermanpet on Monday evening.

According to the police, the mother of the girl lodged a complaint against Hussain (36), who lives in New Washermanpet, for allegedly molesting her daughter.

The family of the girl lives in the same building as Hussain.

The girl’s mother was pregnant and was supposed to get admitted to the hospital on Monday evening.

“She was waiting for her husband to come home. All of a sudden, her four-year old daughter went missing and she started searching for her,” said a police officer who is attached to New Washermanpet police station.

She saw Hussain taking her daughter into his house and followed him. “She claims to have seen him molesting her. Upon seeing her, Hussain fled,” added the officer.

Police were able to find Hussain only on Tuesday morning, at a TASMAC shop in the locality. He has been remanded.

Hussain is married and has two children. “The girl used to play in his house often,” the officer added.
