Maldives envoy calls on Prince of Arcot, CM

Ahmed Mohamed, the Ambassador of Maldives to India, met Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali at Amir Mahal on Friday. Mr. Mohamed is also the Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to Afghanistan and Bhutan. During his visit, the Ambassador expressed his interest to learn about the political history of the Nawabs of the Carnatic/Arcot and their religious policies towards non-Muslims, during their rule.

Shazra Abdul Sattar, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister, Embassy of the Republic of Maldives, New Delhi and the Honorary Consul of Maldives in Chennai, Hisamuddin Papa, were also present. The Prince also offered a shawl and memento to the visiting Ambassador.

Mr. Mohamed also called on Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the Secretariat on Friday. Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, Industries Secretary K. Gnanadesikan and senior officials were present during the meeting, which was described as a courtesy call.
