Madhavaram Police Inspector P. Jawahar was placed under suspension for insubordination after he openly expressed displeasure over denial of promotion.

Prem Anand Sinha, Joint Commissioner of Police, North, issued the orders. He was found violating the Tamil Nadu Government Servants’ Conduct Rules. Rule 4 (1) says: “No government servant shall, except with the previous sanction of the government, have recourse to the press for the vindication of any official act which has been the subject matter of adverse criticism or an attack of defamatory character.” Mr. Jawahar had tweeted threatening to surrender his awards and resign.
