DMK backed Labour Progressive Federation (LPF) urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately intervene and resolve the labour issues at Yamaha and Royal Enfield factory in Chennai.

“The basic right for forming trade union is denied and workers who are forming them are suspended,” M. Shanmugam, general secretary, LPF, said in a statement.

He alleged that despite instructions from the Labour Commissioner to the management to take back action against the employees, the companies have been firm on their stand.

Mr. Shanmugam also warned of massive protest if the issues are not resolved immediately.
