Load-shedding schedule changed

It will take effect from December 1

Owing to numerous complaints received by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) about the one-hour load-shedding in the city, a revised schedule has been announced. The new schedule would take effect from December 1.

According to a press release issued by TANGEDCO, it has been proposed to rotate the one-hour timing of load-shedding every three months in a uniform manner throughout the city. A senior official of TANGEDCO said that a large number of public have been complaining about the present scheduling of one-hour load-shedding. Though TANGEDCO had no intention to reschedule the timing, the officials have been forced to go for change in timings to avoid residents complaining of biased attitude in the scheduling of the load-shedding.

S. Ambica, a resident of Park Town, said that the load-shedding in the mornings (from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.) caused severe hardship, as it is when the children would be getting ready to go to school and her husband would also leave for office. She said: “I had to reschedule my household work and get up early to avoid getting caught in the power cut during morning hours.”

The revised timing has been announced after five months.

The revised schedule of load-shedding was announced on May 29. One hour-load shedding for the city and suburbs was introduced on April 22 this year.
