When you see an act of terrorism condemn it wholeheartedly, for terrorists know neither religion nor have respect for humanity, Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, said here on Sunday.

Speaking at the 50th anniversary celebration of Bazm E Quran, the Nawab urged the community to respect the deities of other religions and be tolerant, as that is what the Quran preached.

He told the youth to refrain from taking or giving dowry.

“Dowry is against Islam. The custom is that the grooms must pay Mehr but now young men are asking for dowry. People will take loan at high interest rates for every small function. Let us be grateful for what Allah has given us,” he said, distributing diplomas to students who took up various courses offered by Bazm E Quran.

Diploma courses

The organisation, established as an Arabic Madrasa in the late 1950s, is an educational organisation which provides diploma courses in tailoring and embroidery, web designing, desk top publishing and spoken English.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Shakeel Akhter told the students to take care of their health, remain alert by learning all their life and be true to the self. He urged the students to follow the preaching of the Quran.

K.V.S. Habeeb Mohammed of Islamic Foundation Trust said the community should invest in education.

Poverty was no excuse to deny one of his/her right to education.

He urged minority self-financing colleges, which get 50 per cent seats under the management quota, to reserve 10 per cent seats to underprivileged students.

Syed Mansoor Ahmed Aslam Nadvi, Mohammed Umar Sirajuddin Hashimi and other members of the organisation participated.
