Law student attacks classmate with knife in Pallavaram

Police are searching for the perpetrator

A college student brandishing a long knife attacked his classmate in full public view near their institute in Pallavaram, before fleeing.

Police said that Karthik, 22, from Medavakkam, is a law student in a private college and had a running feud with Ashwin, 22, his classmate. Both had a quarrel inside the campus which escalated into a fight on the road near their college. Karthik drew a long knife and attacked Ashwin even as the latter fended off the attack. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Panic ensued as onlookers, especially children, screamed for the fight to stop.

College students and passersby intervened and overpowered the two. Ashwin was admitted to a private hospital. Pallavaram police booked a case and are searching for Karthik.
