‘Land Bill will only benefit corporates’

PMK leader S. Ramadoss on Sunday described as highly condemnable the decision of the Union Cabinet to present the Land Acquisition Ordinance for President’s approval for the third time, alleging that it had ignored the sentiments of the people and taking the ordinance route again.

In a statement here, he said the Bill would empower the government to grab the lands of the poor farmers and present them in a platter to corporate houses.

Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s argument that in a rapidly changing world there was a need to construct irrigation canals for farmers, roads to move their farm produce, schools, hospitals, houses and modern amenities, he said when these facilities arrived farmers would be left with nothing to earn their livelihood .
