Lack of illumination on Kamarajar Salai, starting from Ice House till the intersection of Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, is posing a challenge to road users.

For pedestrians, it’s scary and dangerous to walk alone in the night. And, for motorists, the risk of driving in the night is more.

The LED lamps on the posts on the eastern and western lanes of the stretch have not been functioning for quite some days.

There are not many commercial establishments on both lanes of the arterial stretch to light up the road.

The only saving grace is the high mast light on Marina service road on the eastern lane towards Light House.

Motorists have to be extremely careful as there are no medians, except near the intersection of Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai and Kamarajar Salai. When contacted, a GCC official of Zone IX, assured to take steps at the earliest.
